mindterm mac os x experiences - not good

Well, here's where I've gotten under OS X . .
with advice, I've set up the uncompressed .cab so that browsers can d/l
the files they want. Fine, the applet loads.

IE/Mozilla . . sometimes the applet runs fine. Sometimes not. When
not,a fter the dialog to either grant or deny the applet permissions,
the applet window comes up with the cursor in the upper left corner of
the screen. I then get the infamous Mac spinning lollipop. This is
under 10.1. Under Jaguar, this spinning lollipop happens consistently
with Mozilla. I am forced to force-quit the browser.

Chimera: using the uncompressed jar for netscape, applet will not
initialize. Using the uncompressed cab for ie instead, applet
initializes with the same spinning lollipop symptoms as Mozilla per OS,
but when it does get past that, when prompted for the hostname to
connect to, the applet has frozen. Browser still works, however.

Any suggestions? As you can see, the spinning lollipop problem is worse
with 10.2, it would seem.
