I am finding the information sparse regarding creating self-signed java
applets for Netscape and IE. There's
http://www.appgate.com/mindterm/using.php and
http://mindprod.com/signedapplets.html but both are severely lacking in
details. For example, just how does one go about removing "all the
com/netscape classes which MindTerm provides"?
I have the files mindterm_2.3.1-bin.zip and mindterm_2.3.1-doc.zip although
the -doc file seems of no use as it is from a programming angle. So I have
the original mindterm.jar file but I need to turn it into the Netscape .jar
and IE .cab files for use by the webpage. I also have obtained signtool.exe
but can find no clear guidance on its use.
None of those pages cover the actual creation of the certificate or
self-signing it. Luckily one of my FreeBSD books covers it so I used a
FreeBSD system and I think I have a valid self-signed certificate now.
So I think I have all the pieces, but I'm not sure where to go from here. Is
there a site with clear guidance, or can someone offer some? Thanks!
