applet question

greetings,
hoping someone might be able to clarify something for me ...
i'm trying to ssh to a home system from work, behind a proxy and novell 
border manager which will not allow much of anything but http traffic.
i have mindterm configured and working as an applet on the webserver at 
home.  when attempting to connect from work, i recieve an http connection 
reset error in the java console when IE tries to load the applet.  i assume 
this is because of the firewall/proxy here, but am unclear of exactly where 
it is failing.  does it sound like this configuration will allow for 
mindterm to work, or am i fighting a loosing battle?  any insight would be 
greatly appreciated.
