3.0beta2 display update problems

I'm getting mostly reproducable display update problems with 3.0beta2

Basically, if I do an ls on a linux system, sometimes it won't display
the result -- it will immediately show my prompt again, but not the
lines of output from the linux system.  I then type ls -l and the "missing"
lines get displayed along with the output of the ls -l command.  In further
testing, I found that if I resize the screen, it will also update.  I've
got screenshots of the situation that I will attach as a word document.
