Terminal Lockup

I've ran into a situation where the terminal locks-up when I concatenate
the attached file (cat jmap.1). The file is the man page for jmap, and
it should be in Japanese (encoding is not utf-8).
I am running Mindterm on Windows, with the terminal type set to xterm,
and the encoding to UTF-8. I am connecting to Fedora Core 4, with the
locate set to UTF-8 (LANG=en_US.UTF-8).
Half way through concatenation to the screen, the terminal locks up, and
no further output is displayed. However, I am able to issue commands,
which get executed, but without any visible output. I've tried to reset
the terminal via the menu option, as well as running the command
"reset", but had no success. The fact that one terminal window is locked
up doesn't seem to affect other windows in the same SSH session.
Finally, I checked gnome-terminal to see how it behaves with this file,
and it does survive.
